Prelude: Prayer
Langlais
Welcome & Call to Worship
[Psalm 34]
Let us bless the LORD at all times, with his praise continually in our mouths.
Our soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad.
We sought the LORD, and he answered us, and delivered us from all our fears.
Look to him, and be radiant: so your faces shall never be ashamed.
Let us worship the LORD!
A Mighty Fortress (Hymn 260)
Luther
A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper he amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right man on our side, the man of God’s own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is he,
Lord Sabaoth his name, from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo! His doom is sure,
one little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through him who with us sideth;
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still,
his kingdom is forever.
Confession
God of truth and goodness, forgive us when we lose sight of you amidst the noise and clamor of the world. Forgive us when we are afraid to take steps towards healing and reconciliation. Show us again the beauty of this world, the pain in our neighbor’s heart, the silent cries for justice, and the blessings you place on our path. Help us seek you together with our whole selves. Amen.
Silence
For the Fruit of All Creation
Green/Welsh melody
For the harvests of the Spirit, thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit, thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us, for the truths that still confound us,
Most of all that love has found us, thanks be to God.
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ
Peace
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)
Greatorex
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Fritsch/Grubb

Our God, to whom we turn when weary with illusion,
Whose stars serenely burn above this earth’s confusion,
Thine is the mighty plan, the steadfast order sure,
In which the world began, endures, and shall endure.
Thou art Thyself the truth; though we, who fain would find Thee,
Have tried, with thoughts uncouth, in feeble words to bind Thee,
It is because Thou art we’re driven to the quest;
Till truth from falsehood part, our souls can find no rest.
Thou hidden fount of love, of peace, and truth, and beauty,
Inspire us from above with joy and strength for duty;
May Thy fresh light arise within each clouded heart,
And give us open eyes to see Thee as Thou art.

Response: God of our Life (Hymn 275)
Purday/Kerr
God of our life, through all the circling years, we trust in Thee;
In all the past, through all our hopes and fears, Thy hand we see.
With each new day, when morning lifts the veil,
We own Thy mercies, Lord, which never fail.
God of the past, our times are in Thy hand; with us abide.
Lead us by faith to hope’s true promised land; be Thou our guide.
With Thee to bless, the darkness shines as light,
And faith’s fair vision changes into sight.
God of the coming years, through paths unknown, we follow Thee;
When we are strong, Lord, leave us not alone; our refuge be.
Be Thou for us in life our daily bread,
Our heart’s true home when all our years have sped.
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
