Prelude: Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 146]

Praise the LORD, O my soul! We will praise the LORD as long as we live.

We will sing praises to our God our whole life long.

Happy are those whose hope is in the Lord their God, who keeps faith forever.

The Lord watches over the strangers; he upholds the orphan and the widow, he gives food to the hungry.

Let us worship the LORD!

Blessed Jesus, At Your Word (Hymn 454)

Ahle/Clausnitzer

Blessed Jesus, at your word we are gathered all to hear you;
Let our hearts and souls be stirred now to seek and love and fear you;
By your teachings true and holy, drawn from earth to love you solely.

All our knowledge, sense, and sight lie in deepest darkness shrouded,
Till your Spirit breaks our night with the beams of truth unclouded;
You alone to God can win us, you must work all good within us.

Glorious Lord, yourself impart! Light of light, from God proceeding,
Open now our ears and heart, help us by your Spirit’s pleading;
Hear the cry that we are raising; hear, and bless our prayers and praising.

Confession

Compassionate God, in difficult and confusing times, it is ever more important for us to align to your will and purposes. We hope that others see your light reflected in us, but we know our own flaws and failings. Forgive us when we try to project a perfect image of ourselves in order to hide our vulnerabilities. Forgive us when we lose heart. Help us turn to you, that we might know your love and have no need to hide. Transform us by your Spirit so that we might follow you into the world and serve with boldness. Amen.

God of Mercy, God of Grace (Hymn 203)

Wilson/Lyte

God of mercy, God of grace, show the brightness of Your face;
Shine upon us, Savior, shine, fill us with Your light divine.

Let the people praise You, Lord, be by all that live adored;
All below and all above sing your praise with joy and love.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

Lord, the Light of Your Love Is Shining

Kendrick

Lord, the light of your love is shining,
In the midst of the darkness, shining;
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us;
Set us free by the truth you now bring us.
Shine on me; shine on me.

Refrain:
Shine, Jesus, shine; fill this land with the Father’s glory.
Blaze, Spirit, blaze; set our hearts on fire.
Flow, river, flow; flood the nations with grace and mercy.
Send forth your word, Lord, and let there be light.

As we gaze on your kingly brightness,
So our faces display your likeness;
Ever changing from glory to glory,
Mirrored here may our lives tell your story.
Shine on me; shine on me.

(Refrain)
