Prelude

John Bodinger

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 65]

O God who answers prayer, to you all flesh shall come.

Happy are those whom you choose and draw close.

You are the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.

You visit the earth and water it; you provide the people with grain.

You make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy; you crown the year with your bounty.

Let us worship the LORD!

Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above (Hymn 483)

Schutz/Bohemian Brethren’s Kirchengesang

Sing praise to God, who reigns above, the God of all creation,
The God of power, the God of love, the God of our salvation;
With healing balm my soul is filled, and every faithless murmur stilled;
To God all praise and glory!

The Lord is never far away, but through all grief distressing,
An ever present help and stay, our peace, and joy, and blessing;
As with a mother’s tender hand, God gently leads the chosen band:
To God all praise and glory!

Thus all my gladsome way along, I sing aloud Thy praises,
That all my hear the grateful song my voice unwearied raises.
Be joyful in the Lord, my heart, both soul and body take your part:
To God all praise and glory!

Confession

God of truth and steadfast love, we are hungry for good, but we often pursue things that do not truly nourish us. Living in scarcity or fear of scarcity, we seek after our own needs rather than looking out for the needs of others. We fail to stand up for what is right when injustices seem overwhelming. Forgive us, and make us new. God whose truth sets us free, help us listen to you and live. Empower us to trust the abundance of your grace and to share your love with others. Amen.

Jesus Knows the Inmost Heart

Pashto hymn/arr. Weaver

Refrain: Jesus knows the inmost heart: nothing can be hidden. (repeat)

Jesus knows our deepest fears, knows the pain of hidden tears.
By his words of love and peace every heart can find release. (refrain)

When our lives are in his hand nothing can his work withstand;
His forgiveness sets us free, saves us for eternity. (refrain)

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

Open My Eyes (Hymn 324)

Scott

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my mouth, and let me bear
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart, and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Focus: You that have no money, come, buy and eat!

Response: O For a World (Hymn 386)

Winter/Gläser

O for a world where everyone respects each other’s ways,
Where love is lived and all is done with justice and praise.

O for a world where goods are shared and misery relieved,
Where truth is spoken, children spared, equality achieved.

We welcome one world family and struggle with each choice
That opens us to unity and gives our vision voice.

The poor are rich, the weak are strong, the foolish ones are wise.
Tell all who mourn; outcasts belong, who perishes will rise.

O for a world preparing for God’s glorious reign of peace,
Where time and tears will be no more, and all but love will cease.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
