Prelude: This Is My Father’s World

Sheppard/Wood

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 104]

By the streams the birds of the air have their habitation; they sing among the branches.

O Lord, from your lofty abode you water the mountains; the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.

The trees of the Lord are watered abundantly, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.

O Lord, how manifold are your works!

In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Let us worship the LORD!

I Sing the Mighty Power of God (Hymn 288)

Watts/Gesangbuch der Herzogl

I sing the mighty power of God that made the mountains rise;
That spread the flowing seas abroad and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord that filled the earth with food;
God formed the creatures with a word and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eyes;
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the skies!

There's not a plant or flower below but makes Thy glories known;
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care,
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.

Confession

God of renewal, we know that we are to live by faith, not by sight. Yet too often we do not feel confident unless we are in control. Forgive us for rejecting what we do not immediately understand, or closing our imaginations to mystery and newness. Forgive us when we cling to old patterns, even knowing that they are broken. Move us to see others not from our human point of view, but through your love. When things feel uncertain and unfamiliar, help us trust that you are at work in us and in the world. Amen.

Silence

As the Deer

Nystrom

As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after Thee.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire, and I long to worship Thee.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Response: Lord of Light (Hymn 425)

Taylor/Lewis

Lord of light, your name outshining all the stars and suns of space,
Use our talents in your kingdom as the servants of your grace;
Use us to fulfill your purpose in the gift of Christ your Son:
Abba, as in highest heaven, so on earth your will be done.

By the toil of faithful workers in some far outlying field,
By the courage where the radiance of the cross is still revealed,
By the victories of meekness, through reproach and suffering won:
Abba, as in highest heaven, so on earth your will be done.

By the prayers of faithful watchers, never silent day or night;
By the cross of Jesus, bringing peace to all and healing light;
By the love that passes knowledge, making all your children one:
Abba, as in highest heaven, so on earth your will be done.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
