Introit: Dearest Jesus, We Are Here

Ahle/Ore

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 19]

The heavens are telling the glory of God; the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard.

Yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

Let us worship the LORD!

Gather Us In

Haugen

Here in this place the new light is streaming;

now is the darkness vanished away;

See in this space our fears and our dreamings

brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken;

gather us in, the blind and the lame;

call to us now, and we shall awaken;

we shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young, our lives are a mystery.

We are the old who yearn for your face.

We have been sung throughout all of history,

Called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in, the rich and the haughty;

gather us in, the proud and the strong;

give us a heart, so meek and so lowly;

give us the courage to enter the song.

Not in the dark of buildings confining,

not in some heaven, light years away:

Here in this place the new light is shining;

Now is the kingdom, and now is the day.

Gather us in and hold us forever;

gather us in and make us your own;

Gather us in all peoples together,

fire of love in our flesh and our bone.

Confession

God of steadfast love, we are all baptized into Christ’s body and depend on one Spirit. We belong to you and to each other. Forgive us when we envy others’ gifts and compete instead of working together. Forgive us when we devalue members who seem weaker or whose gifts are less obvious. Teach us to appreciate one another, and help us coordinate our actions as your hands and feet and eyes and ears. Amen.

Silence

Song of Gratitude: Bind Us Together

Gillman

(Chorus)

Bind us together, Lord; bind us together with cords that cannot be broken.

Bind us together, Lord; bind us together, Lord, bind us together with love.

There is only one God. There is only one King.

There is only one body. That is why we can sing: (repeat chorus)

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Children’s Message

We Are One in Christ Jesus

Anon., trans. Parker/arr. Blycker

We are one in Christ Jesus, all one body, all one spirit, all together.
We are one in Christ Jesus, all one body, all one spirit, all together.

We share one God, one mighty Lord, one abiding faith, one binding love,
one single baptism, one Holy Comforter, the Holy Spirit, uniting all.

(Repeat)

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
