Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 91]

You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,

Who say to the Lord, “Our refuge and our fortress; our God, in whom we trust.”

You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day,

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

Let us worship the LORD!

God of Grace and God of Glory (Hymn 420)

Hughes/Fosdick

God of grace and God of glory, on thy people pour thy power;
Crown thine ancient church’s story; bring its bud to glorious flower.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the facing of this hour,
For the facing of this hour.

Lo! The hosts of evil round us scorn thy Christ, assail thy ways!
From the fears that long have bound us free our hearts to faith and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, for the living of these days,
For the living of these days.

Cure thy children’s warring madness; bend our pride to thy control;
Shame our wanton, selfish gladness, rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal,
Lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal.

Save us from weak resignation to the evils we deplore;
Let the gift of thy salvation be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage, serving thee whom we adore,
Serving thee whom we adore.

Confession

God our protector and provider, when needs and dangers are close, we look to you and to your word for help. Forgive us when we twist scripture to support our own agenda rather than seeking to listen and remaining in trust. As we read the Psalms, help us take comfort from the words of others who experienced similar emotions or situations. Give us strength to trust you to hear us when we call and to be with us when we are in trouble. Amen.

You Are My All in All

Jernigan

You are my strength when I am weak,
You are the treasure that I seek. You are my All in All.
Seeking You as a precious jewel,
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool. You are my All in All!

(Chorus)
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.

Taking my sin, my cross, my shame,
Rising again I bless Your name. You are my All in All.
When I fall down, You pick me up;
When I am dry, You fill my cup. You are my All in All!
(chorus twice)

[Matthew 6:21]

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

When We Are Tested

Duck/Young

When we are tested and wrestle alone,
Famished for bread when the world offers stone,
Nourish us, God, by your word and your way,
Food that sustains us by night and by day.

When in the desert we cry for relief,
Pleading for paths marked by certain belief,
Lift us to love you beyond sign and test,
Trusting your presence, our only true rest.

When we are tempted to barter our souls,
Trading the truth for the power to control,
Teach us to worship and praise only you,
Seeking your will in the work that we do.

When we have struggled and searched through the night,
Sorting and sifting the wrong from the right,
Savior, surround us with circles of care,
Angels of healing, of hope, and of prayer.
