Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 124]

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side—let the people now say—

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
when our enemies attacked us, then they would have swallowed us up alive.

Then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;
then over us would have gone the raging waters.

Blessed be the Lord, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Let us worship the LORD!

Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven (Hymn 479)

Lyte

Praise, my soul, the God of heaven, glad of heart your carols raise;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, who, like me should sing God’s praise?
Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise the Maker all your days!

Praise God for the grace and favor show our forebears in distress;
God is still the same forever, slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Sing our Maker’s faithfulness!

Angels, teach us adoration, you behold God face to face;
Sun and moon and all creation, dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace!

Confession

God of wilderness and mercy, we often feel lost in the abundance of competing information in our culture. Forgive us when we pay attention to the loudest voices and lose track of what matters on a deeper level. Forgive us when we grumble about the evils in our world but do not actively work to address them. Lead us to grace and truth in Jesus Christ, that we may know you as the foundation of our lives and live as your children. Amen.

Silence

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (Hymn 356)

Robinson/NETTLETON

Come, Thou fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, mount of God’s unchanging love!

O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for Thy courts above.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Baptized in Water (Hymn 492)

Saward/Gaelic melody

Baptized in water, sealed by the Spirit,
cleansed by the blood of Christ, our King;
Heirs of salvation, trusting the promise,
faithfully now God’s praises we sing.

Baptized in water, sealed by the Spirit,
dead in the tomb with Christ, our King;
One with His rising, freed and forgiven,
thankfully now God’s praises we sing.

Baptized in water, sealed by the Spirit,
marked with the sign of Christ, our King;
Born of the Spirit, we are God’s children,
joyfully now God’s praises we sing.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
