Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 8]

O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

When we look at the heavens, the work of your fingers, what are human beings that you care for them?

You have made us a little lower than divine beings, and have crowned us with glory and honor.

O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Let us worship the LORD!

Holy, Holy, Holy (Hymn 138)

Dykes/Heber

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee
Who wert and art, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinfulness Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Confession

Triune God, within your own life there is truth, care, and listening among the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus, you have much more to teach us, but we cannot take it in all at once. We are mortal and limited. Learning new patterns, especially after trauma, takes time and practice. Father, remind us that you sent your Son to save, not to condemn. Spirit, guide us into truth and forgive us when we stray. Jesus, help us keep listening with love and humility. Amen.

Silence

Open My Eyes (Hymn 324)

Scott

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready, my God, Thy will to see;
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Word without end.
Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us (Hymn 129)

Alford/Williams

Come, O Spirit, dwell among us, come with Pentecostal power;
Give the church a stronger vision, help us face each crucial hour.
Built upon a firm foundation, Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone,
Still the church is called to mission that God’s love shall be made known.

We would raise our alleluias for the grace of yester-years;
For tomorrow’s unknown pathway, hear, O Lord, our humble prayers.
In the church’s pilgrim journey you have led us all the way,
Still in presence move before us, fire by night and cloud by day.

Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; give us words of fire and flame.
Help our feeble lips to praise you, glorify your holy name.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three in one: what mystery!
We would sing our alleluias now and through eternity.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
