Introit: Come Down, O Love Divine

da Siena/Vaughan Williams

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 67]

May God make his face to shine upon us, that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

Let us worship the LORD!

God Is Here! (Hymn 461)

Green/Taylor

God is here! As we your people meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure what it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us, all our varied skills and arts
Wait the coming of the Spirit into open minds and hearts.

Here are symbols to remind us of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font, and pulpit; here the cross has central place.
Here in honesty of preaching, here in silence, as in speech,
Here, in newness and renewal, God the Spirit comes to each.

Lord of all, of church and kingdom, in an age of change and doubt
Keep us faithful to the gospel, help us work your purpose out.
Here in this day’s dedication, all we have to give, receive:
We, who cannot live without you, we adore you! We believe!

Confession

Loving God, we confess that we are often troubled and afraid. Forgive us when we do not rely on your teaching or the nudging of our Advocate, the Holy Spirit. Jesus, help us keep your word and trust your interconnectedness with the Father and the Holy Spirit. When we do not see you, remind us of your peace and continue to teach us. Thank you for making your home with us. Amen.

Silence

Ps. 67: God of Mercy, God of Grace (Hymn 203)

Wilson/Lyte

God of mercy, God of grace, show the brightness of your face;
Shine upon us, Savior, shine, fill us with your light divine.

Let the people praise you, Lord, be by all that live adored;
At your feet their tribute pay, and your holy will obey.

Let the nations shout and sing, glory to their Savior bring;
All below and all above sing your praise with joy and love.

Let the people praise you, Lord, earth shall then its fruits afford;
Shine upon us, Savior, shine, fill us with your light divine.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, Word without end.
Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

Blessed Jesus, At Your Word (Hymn 454)

Ahle/Clausnitzer

Blessed Jesus, at your word we are gathered all to hear you;
Let our hearts and souls be stirred now to seek and love and fear you;
By your teachings true and holy, drawn from earth to love you solely.

All our knowledge, sense, and sight lie in deepest darkness shrouded,
Till your Spirit breaks our night with the beams of truth unclouded;
You alone to God can win us, you must work all good within us.

Glorious Lord, yourself impart! Light of light, from God proceeding,
Open now our ears and heart, help us by your Spirit’s pleading;
Hear the cry that we are raising; hear, and bless our prayers and praising.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
