Introit: Lord, Our Lord, Thy Glorious Name
The Psalter, 1912/GOTT SEI DANK

Welcome & Call to Worship
[Psalm 139]
We praise you, O God, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works!
How weighty to us are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!
We try to count them—they are more than the sand;
We come to the end—we are still with you.
Search us, O God, and know our heart; lead us in the way everlasting.
Let us worship the LORD!
My Country, ’Tis of Thee (Hymn 561)
Smith/Thesaurus Musicus
My country, ‘tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
Land where my parents died, land of the pilgrims’ pride,
from every mountainside, let freedom ring.
My native country, thee, land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills, thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills like that above.
Let music swell the breeze, and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake, let all that breathe partake,
Let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our parents’ God, to Thee, author of liberty, to Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright with freedom’s holy light;
Protect us by Thy might, great God, our King.
Confession
Jesus, you welcomed sinners and tax collectors. The religious professionals of the day took offense. Forgive us when we think some kinds of people are less worthy of your care or beyond repentance. Usually we would prefer to be righteous people who do not need to repent. Forgive us when we are blind to the ways we still need to change, both personally and communally. Teach us the joy of repenting, and help us rejoice as you do when someone finds your way again. Amen.
Silence
God, You Spin the Whirling Planets (Hymn 285)
Huber/BEACH SPRING
God, you spring the whirling planets, fill the seas and spread the plain,
Mold the mountains, fashion blossoms, call forth sunshine, wind, and rain.
We, created in your image, would a true reflection be
Of your justice, grace, and mercy and the truth that makes us free.
You have called us to be faithful in our life and ministry.
We respond in grateful worship joined in one community.
When we blur your gracious image, focus us and make us whole.
Healed and strengthened as your people, we move onward toward your goal.
Forgiveness in Jesus Christ
Peace
The peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
For the Healing of the Nations
Kaan/UNSER HERRSCHER
For the healing of the nations, Lord, we pray with one accord;
For a just and equal sharing of the things that earth affords;
To a life of love in action help us rise and pledge our word.
Lead us forward into freedom; from despair your world release,
That, redeemed from war and hatred, all may come and go in peace.
Show us how through care and goodness fear will die and hope increase.
All that kills abundant living, let it from the earth be banned:
Pride of status, race or schooling, dogmas that obscure your plan.
In our common quest for justice may we hallow life’s brief span.
You, Creator God, have written your great name on humankind;
For our growing in your likeness bring the life of Christ to mind,
That by our response and service earth its destiny may find.

Homily - All in All: Image Undivided
John Hoffman
Focus: The image of God shines through each person in a unique way—the creation of humanity in God’s image is an ongoing act, which will not be completed until all human beings are fully and freely connected in love to God and each other. Therefore no person may be treated as dispensable or less essential.
