Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 111]

Praise the LORD! We will give thanks to the LORD with our whole heart,

in the company of the upright, and in the congregation.

Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.

He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the LORD is gracious and merciful.

He provides food for those who fear him; he is ever mindful of his covenant.

Let us worship the LORD!

Ps. 117: From All That Dwell Below the Skies (Hymn 229)

Watts/Geistliche Kirchengesang

From all that dwell below the skies let the Creator’s praise arise: Alleluia! Alleluia!
Let the Redeemer’s name be sung through every land, in every tongue.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

In every land begin the song, to every land the strains belong: Alleluia! Alleluia!
In cheerful sound all voices raise and fill the world with joyful praise.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Eternal are Thy mercies, Lord; eternal truth attends Thy word: Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, till suns shall rise and set no more.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Confession

God of goodness and truth, we are often more attuned to what our culture expects from us than what you hope for us. We want to be strong and independent, but we cannot be whole without embracing our vulnerability. Forgive us when we are afraid to be honest with you or with one another. Forgive us when we do not expect you to accept every part of us, even though you made us. Help us understand your will and give thanks. Amen.

Ps. 67: God of Mercy, God of Grace (Hymn 203)

Wilson/Lyte

God of mercy, God of grace, show the brightness of your face;
Shine upon us, Savior, shine, fill us with your light divine.

Let the people praise you, Lord, be by all that live adored;
At your feet their tribute pay, and your holy will obey.

Let the nations shout and sing, glory to their Savior bring;
All below and all above sing your praise with joy and love.
