Moment for Manito

Thank you to Daniel Cathey

Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 71]

In you, O Lord, we take refuge; let us never be put to shame.

Our mouths are filled with your praise, and with your glory all day long.

Do not cast us off in the time of old age; do not forsake us when our strength is spent.

O God, from our youth you have taught us, and still we proclaim your wondrous deeds.

You who have done great things, O God, who is like you?

We will hope continually, and praise you more and more.

Let us worship the LORD!

Come Sing, O Church, in Joy! (Hymn 430)

Dill/Darwall

Come sing, O church, in joy! Come join, O church, in song!
For Christ the Lord has led us through the ages long!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!

Long years have come and gone, and still God reigns supreme,
Empowering us to catch the vision, dream the dream!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!

Let courage be our friend, let wisdom be our guide,
As we in mission magnify the Crucified!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!

Come sing, O church, in joy! Come join, O church in song!
For Christ the Lord has triumphed o’er the ages long!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey now and praise the Lord!

Confession

God who meets us with patience, we are often preoccupied with our accomplishments. We strive to do more or dwell on our failures, but you know the complicated histories that have brought us to this moment. Forgive us when we forget that even in our brokenness and conflict, we have worth and wholeness with you. Forgive us when we are overzealous to destroy the “weeds” in our lives and end up doing more harm than good. Restore our hearts, and help us be conduits for your compassion. Amen.

Silence

For the Fruit of All Creation

Welsh melody/Green

For the fruit of all creation, thanks be to God.
For the gifts to every nation, thanks be to God.
For the plowing, sowing, reaping,
silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth’s safe-keeping, thanks be to God.

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Joy to the World

Watts/Haweis

No more let sins and sorrows grow, nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow far as the curse is found.

Congregation: Come, Ye Thankful People, Come (Hymn 551)

Alford/Elvey

All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto God’s praise to yield;
Wheat and tares together sown, unto joy or sorrow grown;
First the blade, and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear:
Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take the harvest home;
From each field shall in that day all offenses purge away;
Give the angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast,
But the fruitful ears to store in God’s garner evermore.

Hanson

Angela Bloemeke, clarinet; Jill Cathey, oboe

Lord, let my heart be good soil, open to the seed of your Word.
Lord, let my heart be good soil, where love can grow and peace is understood.
When my heart is hard, break the stone away.
When my heart is cold, warm it with the day.
When my heart is lost, lead me on your way.
Lord, let my heart, Lord, let my heart, Lord, let my heart be good soil.

Call to Stewardship

Judy Stafstrom

And when the Lord smelled the pleasing odor, the Lord said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of humankind, for the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done. As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” -Genesis 8:21-22
