Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 50]

The mighty one, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

He calls to the heavens and to the earth, “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me!”

The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge.

Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving; call on him in the day of trouble.

Let us worship the LORD!

Be Thou My Vision (Hymn 339)

Irish ballad

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my treasure Thou art.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Confession

Fathering and Mothering God, it is your good pleasure to help us live into your kingdom. You encourage us to hope, but we fall back into fear. You urge us to give freely, but we cling to what we have. You call us to watch for you at all times, but we grow weary or become distracted. Forgive us. Increase our willingness to trust, enlarge our hearts, and keep us alert to the wonders you work in the world every day. Amen.

Silence

Give Thanks

Smith

Give thanks with a grateful heart, give thanks to the Holy One,
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say, “We are strong,”
Let the poor say, “We are rich”
Because of what the Lord has done for us.

Give thanks. Give thanks. Give thanks.

[Ephesians 5: 19-20]

Forgiveness in Jesus Christ

Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Gloria Patri (Hymn 579)

Greatorex

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
Word without end. Amen, Amen.

Children’s Message

Lord, Who May Dwell Within Your House (Hymn 164)

Webber/DETROIT

Lord, who may dwell within your house or on your holy hill?
Those who do good and speak the truth, whose lives are blameless still;

Who have no guile upon their tongues nor harm their neighbor’s life,
But honor those who fear the Lord and turn away from strife;

Who do no wrong, but keep their word and seek no bribe or gain;
All those who do such things shall live and safe from harm remain.

(Psalm 15)
