Welcome & Call to Worship

[Psalm 78]

God commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven;

he rained down manna to eat, and gave his people the grain of heaven.

Mortals ate of the bread of angels; he sent them food in abundance.

They ate and were well filled, for he gave them what they craved.

Let us worship the LORD!

Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken (Hymn 446)

 Haydn/Newton

Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God;

God, whose word cannot be broken, formed thee for a blest abode.

On the rock of ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose?

With salvation’s walls surrounded, thou may’st smile at all thy foes.

See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love,

Well supply thy sons and daughters and all fear of want remove.

Who can faint while such a river ever flows their thirst to assuage?

Grace, which like the Lord the giver, never fails from age to age.

Round each habitation hovering, see the cloud and fire appear

For a glory and a covering, showing that the Lord is near.

Thus driving from their banner light by night and shade by day,

Safe they feed upon the manna which God gives them when they pray.

Confession

Jesus, Bread of Life, you provide for us day by day. When the future seems frightening, we worry about tomorrow and fail to rely on you today.  Forgive us when we keep looking for something extraordinary to vanquish our doubts and take away the challenges of trusting you. There will always be challenges, but you are with us. Trusting in your care, help us work not only for physical food, but also for your kingdom.  Amen.

Song of Gratitude:  Christ Above Me

Chisum/Searcy

Chorus:

Christ above me, Christ beside me, Christ within me ever guiding;

Christ behind me, Christ before, Christ, my love, my life, my Lord.

Bread of life from heaven, lover of my soul; Peace of God so ever present.

I surrender heart and mind to…(Chorus)

Mercy everlasting, tenderness divine; Word of God so ever healing.

I surrender heart and mind to…(Chorus)
